Universal Studios Japan (USJ) celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2021 and launched the new “NO LIMIT! Super Energy” campaign. However, people were not able to experience the brand’s "Super Energy" mission because of visitor limits set by the government. Therefore, USJ focused on stress accumulated during the lockdown, the opposite of energy. USJ developed Stress Assessment Machine and opened Stress Buying Center in Tokyo. The machine leveraged facial recognition and AI to quantify stress from physiological information like expressions, blinking, heart rate, and temperature, and with travel agency JTB, provided USJ/Osaka travel vouchers based on the results.
