Kaufland, a full-range retailer, has been implementing its "School of Fruits and Vegetables" project since 2017, donating fresh products to public elementary schools and schools for children with special needs to encourage healthy eating habits among children. This project provides healthy meals for students every week throughout the school year. Each Kaufland store became a partner with one school and in the year 2021/2022 project included 12 schools for children with special needs. Some Kaufland stores had two partner schools. In the school year 2021/2022 150 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables were donated, benefiting almost 20.000 elementary school children.
