Message from IPRA President 2014, March

10 years, 9 months ago
Communication, marketing and PR sectors are revitalized all over the world now that Spring is on the horizon.
An anniversary for the future
Turning 59 this year, IPRA is older than most of us who work in the sector, but we are excited about celebrating IPRA’s 60th anniversary next year.
Needless to say, 60 years makes a significant point in the history of an organization. Preparations have already begun to celebrate this anniversary in September 2015 through a rather glamorous world congress to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa. In the expert hands of Past President (2012) Johanna McDowell, the preparations include issuing invitations worldwide to ensure the participation of the best speakers. Already, we are getting requests for the registration process which is most encouraging. This IPRA World Congress is not to be missed. I look forward to meeting you in South Africa next year.
An opportunity for now
Having said that, I cannot think of any reason for us not to meet before the world congress. During the first week of June this year, we will come together for an IPRA Conference to be organized in Almaty, the picturesque capital of Kazakhstan. I have no doubt that the conference will prove to be fascinating with the participation of the rapidly emerging communication markets of Central Asia.
IPRA receives requests from all over the world for participating in public relations summits and conferences. So far in 2014 alone it is clear that the Turkic Republics, the Middle East, the Balkans and Eastern Europe are all taking PR rather seriously.
No matter what we are doing, we need to promote it. The impact of any work is significantly reduced if we fail to promote it. So, I urge your help in this respect. Tell your colleagues about IPRA and its events.
Trends
IPRA is involved in the fields of promotion, public relations and communication. Increasingly technology is making a contribution to make these fields more personal. Personalized communication and customized promotion are the popular aspects of recent times. Sometimes we may concerned by the weight of the world on our shoulders. But that weight feels lighter when we are touched by personal communication. Personalized communication has become the latest rising trend. And this is a trend that will be explored in our events. Under the umbrella of IPRA, participate in our conferences and help develop your professional capabilities. And enjoy the networking opportunities too. When combined, love and communication can abolish borders: I’d like to think IPRA is a key enabler!
