New York City – The International Public Relations Association (IPRA) is proud to announce updates to its representatives to the United Nations (UN) in New York. Matthew Cossel has been promoted to Permanent Representative to the UN from his position as a Youth Representative and both Alexa Moyer and Diya Narayan have been announced as the newest UN Youth Representatives, filling a role held by Cossel for five years.
“IPRA’s relationship with the UN is a key value of our organization,” said James McQueeny, IPRA’s Head Permanent Representative to the UN and board member. “Matt’s previous work with our organization, as well as his background working for the UN directly, are invaluable as we continue to bolster our presence at the UN and its sister organizations. We are equally as excited to bring on Alexa and Diya as our latest Youth Representatives to the UN, reaffirming our commitment to youth empowerment. They will be valuable assets to our growing team.”
Following five years as a youth representative, Cossel will be stepping into a leadership role with the organization, leading IPRA’s relationship with the UN’s Department of Global Communications and overseeing the team’s youth representative programme. Cossel is a UN veteran, working as both an intern and conference consultant with the UN’s Department of Global Communications’ Civil Society Office. He has worked in PR for more than 5 years and is currently a senior PR professional with a prominent New York City PR firm.
As youth representatives, Moyer and Narayan’s role will include spreading news and information from the United Nations to IPRA members and the general public relations community with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals. While performing general work by assisting in meetings and contributing to informal discussions, Youth Representatives provide valuable input and contributions to important UN working areas and youth issues.
Moyer is from northeastern Pennsylvania and moved to Connecticut for college where she’s stayed ever since. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from University of New Haven with a degree in legal studies and minors in both political science and professional writing, Moyer began her master of strategic communication and public relations at Sacred Heart University which she is set to finish in December 2023.
Narayan is from Roxbury, New Jersey, and is a first-year student at Lehigh University in the School of Business, majoring in marketing with a minor in applied statistics. Narayan carries a heavy interest in human rights and addressing issues that emerge from the media. She is currently conducting research within the Business School regarding Generative AI in the marketing and management world.
