Intergenerational Dialogues on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” will take place at the United Nations headquarters New York in a day-long event on Tuesday 1 August 2017.

As an NGO accredited by the UN, IPRA supports these UN goals with its on-going activities in New York and the annual Golden World UN award. IPRA members can participate in these live dialogues via UN Web TV on the day of the event beginning at 10 am Eastern Daylight Time. The Dialogues will raise awareness of the high value that youth and older persons can bring to implementation of the SDGs.

“This is a great opportunity for IPRA’s younger and older PR members, to establish plans to implement the SDGs,” said Jim McQueeny, IPRA representative to the UN DPI (Department of Public Information). The event is organized by DPI and the DPI / NGO Executive Committee.

The SDGs were adopted by the UN in September 2015 to end poverty, protect the planet, ensure human rights and fulfilling lives for all. Topics for six dialogues are Poverty, Gender Equality, Employment, The Planet, Intergenerational Innovation and Healthy Living. Dialogues will be led by prominent young and older speakers. McQueeny and Barbara Burns, IPRA ‘s other representative at DPI, serve on the event’s media committee.
