As the world became serious about Artificial Intelligence, IPRA realised that there was a global need to ensure that the ethical communication championed by IPRA for 70 years is not compromised by a new technology. First, we created the IPRA AI and PR guidelines. And now we are launching the AI and PR Chapter to ensure our members stay on top of developments and can intervene as required.
In line with the IPRA mission of leading trust and ethics in global communication, the Chapter will:
- encourage the ethical and responsible use of AI in public relations;
- empower PR professionals with the knowledge, tools, and ethical guidelines needed to navigate the evolving landscape of AI and PR.
Based on these objectives, the Chapter will pursue strategies under three themes:
- work with the best people within IPRA and elsewhere;
- gather knowledge;
- impart knowledge.
The first Chairman of the AI Chapter is IPRA past president and current Board member Svetlana Stavreva. The Chapter website will be the place where new content and thinking is uploaded. For information on how to participate please contact the IPRA Secretariat using our contact form here.
Background to IPRA
IPRA, the International Public Relations Association, was established in 1955, and is the leading global network for PR professionals in their personal capacity. IPRA aims to advance trusted communication and the ethical practice of public relations. We do this through networking, our code of conduct and intellectual leadership of the profession. IPRA is the organiser of public relations' annual global competition, the Golden World Awards for Excellence (GWA). IPRA's services enable PR professionals to collaborate and be recognised. Members create content via our Thought Leadership essays, social media and our consultative status with the United Nations. GWA winners demonstrate PR excellence. IPRA welcomes all those who share our aims and who wish to be part of the IPRA worldwide fellowship. For more see www.ipra.org
