Dr. Martha Theodorou, former IPRA National Chair and Council Member for Greece, has been appointed Chargé de Mission on Communication at the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS)

The conference will bring together notable speakers from around the globe to share their views on the strategic importance of public relations in beating the global economic crisis.

14 May 2009: Waseda University, considered one of Japan’s most prestigious universities, has awarded the first doctorate degree in the field of public relations issued in Japan to Takashi Inoue, a longstanding IPRA Fellow and a former IPRA Board Member. Dr. Inoue’s dissertation, entitled “Research on Self-Correction Model (SCM) in Public Relations”, is summarized below.

The members of the IPRA College of Members Emeriti (CME) elected Charles van der Straten Waillet of Belgium to succeed Göran Sjöberg of Sweden as Chairman of the CME. Charles took office in November 2008.

29 November 2008: A new IPRA Gold Paper, “The Role of Public Relations and Communications Supporting Corporations Collaborating in a Complex, Converging World," was released at the IPRA Public Relations World Congress in Beijing.

It was my honor to represent the International Public Relations Association at this conference, the first held outside the United States in 60 years, with the theme of “Reaffirming Human Rights for All: The Universal Declaration at 60.”
